For you peferct day at the beach
Don’t forget your sun-cream and sunglasses. Also in winter these things are essential in Tenerife.
Enter the water with bathing shoes or flip-flops.The shore can be rocky and especially the black sand can get hot.If you got burned by jellyfish apply vinegar on the affected area.
To get the scin dry before you do so you can use sand. By the way vinegar helps against sunburn too.
The most beautiful beaches in Tenerife
Playa Jardín – the exotic beach
Playa Jardín is maybe the most beautiful beach in the north of Tenerife. Located in the city Puerto de la Cruz and not far away from the famous Loro Parque.
The beach-area is surrounded by exotic plants and an artificial waterfall in the biggest part of the beach.
The beach is devided in three parts and each of these parts has its own characteristics.
The first part is Playa Castillo with shady palms, rough sand and a lot of little stones which makes it difficult to enter the sea. The next part is El Charcón the smallest of all which has less stones and more privacy.
And last but not least there is Punta Brava which has very fine black sand.
The playground near the waterfall and the warm black sand of Playa Jardín makes it also a paradise for young children. Furhtermore the beach promenade offers a wide range of cafés and restaurants.
Playa del Duque – the luxury beach
The luxury Playa del Duque is located in the Costa Adeje, the sunniest region of Tenerife.
With its golden brown sand, parasols and the 5 Stars-Hotel-Resorts the beach differs from the beaches in the north of Tenerife and gives you a feeling like you are in the Caribbean.
Playa del Duque is also one of the cleanest and safest beaches around the island. You find shops, boutiques and a shopping center near the beach.
The area is also very good for activities like surfing, diving, snorkeling, tennis, beach volleyball and sailing.
Parking at Playa del Duque can be quite difficult. But near the beach is a car park in the shopping center which costs €1.20 per hour. Try the walk at Playa del Duque along the rock coast with a stunning view of Costa Adeje.
Playa de Troya – families and party hotspot
Playa de Troya is the perfect destination for families with children. The sand is great for playing and the waterisn’t very deep at the shore.
At night Playa de Troya is the perfect destination for party-people. There are a ot of bars and clubs in Playa de las Américas. Playa de Troya is the party hotspot on Tenerife with the Papagayo beach club which is the hippest club on Tenerife.
Playa de las Teresitas
Playa de las Teresitas is located in the northeast of Tenerife and impresses with its length of two kilometers. The beach was applied in the 70s. It has a beautiful golden-brown sand imported from the Sahara and green palms.
As the city San Andrés decided not to build big hotel resorts at the area around the Playa de las Teresitas it is very silent and calm.
As the playa de las Teresitas is the typical “postcard beach”. Although the beach is very popular you will find enough parking places.
Not far away from the beach there are many small restaurants with Bocadillos and tapas to go.
Playa Torviscas – Fañabe
The double beach Playa Torviscas/Fañabe offers a wide range of watersport activities, for example Jet-Skiing, banana boating, paddleboat driving and parascending. Playa Torvisca/Fañabe offers also some leisure time facilities like crazy golf and trampoline.
Better ask for the prices before you enter the activity.
Playa del Médano – the surfer’s paradise
Playa del Médano is a paradise for surfers. Playa Médano is especially suitable for windsurfing and kitesurfing because of its windflow.
It is the largest beach in Tenerife and located near the Montaña Roja which is a very attractive destination for hikers and climbers. And after a long hard sunny and sporty day, you can enjoy a tipical food in one of the culinary restaurants.
Playa de la Tejita – the nature beach
The natural beach Playa de la Tejita is a real insider tip because during the week the beach is nearly empty and practically no tourists. Because of its isolation many nudists use this beach although it is not an official nudist beach.
The shore isn’t very deep here. This makes the beach ideal for relaxing and bathing. Another highlight is to observe the planes starting and landing at the airport near by. One disadvantage of the beach is that there are no toilets and douches.
